This evolution applet uses cells which grow and breed to simulate the process of natural selection.
Cells drift about looking for food which they eat until they are fully grown when then can breed or 'fight' other cells.
The cells 'DNA' is represented by their colour genes; red, green and blue.

When cells breed the child gets a mix of DNA from its parents with up to 10% random variation.
If a cell is more than half one colour it becomes a 'Killer cell' and will fight other cells with less than half its own colour. The largest cell wins.

There are 3 evolution models, random food sources, fixed food source and both fixed and random food sources.
The cells will evolve differently to cope with different circumstances.

Choose the model you would like to see:

Random Food Model

Fixed Food Model

Random and Mixed Food Model
